Testimonials - Fishing at Medicine Stone Resort & Outpost:

Hello Dennis and Debbie,

Just a quick note to thank you folks for your great hospitality and to let you know that you run a great outpost at Kitty Hawk / Cornpicker. We make a fishing trip to Canada every year and this was the best by far.  The accommodations were great, the fishing was wonderful, and your hospitality was outstanding!!  The weather cooperated for the most part although it was a little windy on some days.  We can't say enough about the quality of the fish we caught. Mostly large, feisty, and certainly delicious!!

Looking forward to returning when time permits.  Thanks again for everything.

Dennis and Debbie,

Thank you very much for your incredible hospitality.

We really enjoyed our stay at your place. The fishing, both pickerell and lake trout was fantastic. We had a blast fishing with the bobbers off the dock. Give my thanks to Jason for being an outstanding guide, he did a hell of a job keeping us on top of the fish that day.Thank you, to both you and Deb for showing us the lake and all the hot spots, it was great.

Who knows, maybe we will come up again next year;

Thanks again from all of us,
Tim & Terri, Jim & Gwen - 2009

Dennis,

We had a great time! Your resort and Lake did exceed our expectations. We pulled out at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Flat Lake was a hoot. On Wednesday we seen 25 or more fish and caught 5 musky most between 35 and 40” and 1 was about 47” that got off before the net. The second time we went we seen 7 and caught 2. We seen several over 40” each time but they were still a little negative.

On Medicine Stone our biggest Northern was 38”, seen several over 40” and caught many in the 33”-36” range. We went to Little Gordo one night for an hour and caught 4-5 small northern in the 24”-28” range. Wanted to try Little Cow and 4 Cro but was not sure if there was a boat on them and did not want to chance it. We would love to try those lakes next year, will there be boats there? We caught several walleyes over 23” up to 26”, the fish seemed to get bigger every day. Had a ball with the lakers, probably caught 35 or so between the 2 boats in a couple days with 31.75” being the biggest. All in all there was not one complaint other than nobody wanted to quit fishing until dark.

We all want to come back next year but it will take a month or two to commit, we all need to let our brides digest this year before bringing up next year. We are looking forward to getting back and really doing some exploring, we caught everything there was to catch and only touched 25% of the lake.

I will be mailing you a cd with all of our photos. Let us know when you get some on the website, we are all excited to see who is on there from our group.

Thank You for the Hospitality,

Dennis, I just wanted to update you on the remainder of our stay. The fishing was great. We totaled 460 pike and 4 perch for the week. Insect lake was more productive than the website says. We caught a minimum of 15 pike per day in the 30”-40” range with one day catching 35. It was a blast. Bug Lake had lots of 17”-24” pike, with Lower Bug having some larger ones 27”-34”, 1-2 a day.

Three of us portaged / paddled to Clear Lake one afternoon and caught 35 pike in two hours, all of them 25” - 35”, so I would suggest to other guests that they make to trip over there, also that 16’ boat should have a motor, there are a ton of fish in Clear Lake, we only fished ¼ mile of shoreline with the canoe. I was very close to lugging a 5 hp over there, if it was Monday I would have brought it over there for the week.

The cabin was great, everything worked great too. Average temps were 40 f, so bugs were not an issue.

We do a Canada trip every couple years and your outfit is on the short list for our next trip.

Thanks,

In response to this testimonial, we are going to put another boat and motor in the portage lake.

Overall the trip was great. The cabin was very nice and the view of the lake from the cabin was the best we've had (no trees blocking the view). It was also good to be that close to the dock.

The fishing was excellent. We stayed mostly on Bug and Lower Bug. We went to Insect a couple of times but we were catching plenty on the others. I personally caught two 40+ inchers on Bug, one within sight of the cabin. Overall we figured we caught between 850-900 fish, mostly Pike but a couple of the guys caught some big Walleyes in the 7-8 pound range. The boats were in great shape. Sometimes as they age the rivets come loose and you are standing in an inch of water all day, but they were bone dry all day.

It's always good to get away to beautiful country and great fishing, thanks for making it happen.

Best regards,

Tom Donelan (and Mike, Bob, Terry & TJ)

Dennis,

The walleye were caught on upper bug. They were a surprise to us too since we weren't fishing for them so we didn't catch a lot but the five or six that we caught were not small as they were biting on large pike lures. The average size of the Pike were 3-4 pounds with a fair number larger than that. We only went to insect a couple of times since we were having such good luck on bug and lower bug it didn't make much difference. But the fishing was good there, the fish were a little larger but the biggest we caught were on upper bug.

Dennis & Debbie,

I wanted to thank you for the wonderful trip to your camp this year. Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you once again.

One last thing about the day we spent at your Secret Muskie Lake. I have never seen a lake that has so many HUGE Muskie in it. We caught two of them and lost one that was approx. 52 inches. That lake is absolutely incredible!!!

Anyway, thanks again for the great trip and I hope to hear back from you. Take care.

Hi,

We have returned home from another fun fishing trip to Canada. We had good luck and great weather. It was our 7th year in a row going to Medicine Stone. We had a good time. We are thinking of going to Kitty Hawk Outpost next year.

We caught quite a few larger northerns in Insect Lake. Biggest was 40 inches, also one 39 and 2- 38 inches. Mike and I were over there one day and got about 20 from 29 inches to 35 inches. Others caught some that size also but I don't know exactly how many. We did catch lots of smaller fish in the bug lakes. I always keep track, I caught 219 for the week total. I'm sure the others were around that also but they do not keep track. We caught 2 walleyes in Bug Lake both about 20 inches and both while fishing northern. One on a plug and one on a spoon. we never tried fishing just walleye. I did catch one Walleye about 5 pounds (25 inches) 4 years ago.

Thanks,

Bill Friday

Hi Debbie and Dennis,

We had such a good time last year, especially my brother Jeff who caught that nice pike, that we would like to inquire about booking another trip in July for 2007.

Best Regards

When I was younger, we were at Medicine Stone for several years in a row. My brother, his kids, my son and grandson were there 2 years ago.. My grandson, Matt Gullickson is booked into one of your fly-in camps in may. Along with his girlfriend and her dad. You have a great spot. The burn was always good for lots of walleyes. I remember one year my brother Gordon and his son went to an adjoining un-named lake and came back with some big walleyes. From then on, we called it Big Gordo lake, and i guess the name stuck.

Dennis & Debbie,

I was just wondering if you got my previous email and phone call about our group reserving the large cabin on the lake in June 2006? Please let me know as I know your camp fills up quickly and I we would hate to miss an opportunity to spend a week at your resort.
